Every young person starts somewhere. NextGen's journey takes youth from their first surah as a Little Star all the way to leading and teaching as a Youth Charter Member.
Kids

Little Star
PreK – Grade 5
The first step — knowing Allah, His Prophets, and the pillars of Islam.

- Regularly participates in MCC Youth programs
- Memorized Surah Fatiha and at least one other surah

Little Light
PreK – Grade 5
Growing in knowledge — the Six Articles of Faith and more of the Qur'an.

- Basic knowledge of Allah, His Prophets, the Five Pillars, and the Six Articles of Faith
- Regular participation in MCC Youth programs
- Memorized Surah Al-Fatiha and at least five additional surahs
Pre-Teen

Young Star
Grade 6 – 8
Building strong practice — prayer, manners, and a seerah study.

- Sound understanding of core beliefs and practices (pillars of Islam & Iman)
- Active participation in MCC Youth programs
- Consistent Islamic manners, modesty, daily prayers, and striving to fast in Ramadan
- Working knowledge of purification and halal/haram principles
- Memorized ≥10 surahs, completed a seerah study, completed the Young Star syllabus

Young Light
Grade 6 – 8
Stepping up — volunteering, leading activities, and public speaking.

- Strong understanding of Allah, His Messengers, and the pillars of Islam & Iman
- Active participation including volunteering, leading activities, and maintaining an MCC personal report
- Consistent manners, modesty, daily prayers, and fasting in Ramadan
- Working knowledge of purification and halal/haram principles
- Memorized ≥10 surahs with meaning, seerah study, ≥5 topic-wise hadiths & verses, Young Light syllabus
- Confident in public speaking, leading prayers, and explaining the purpose of Islam
Teen & Up

Youth Associate
Grade 9 and above
Integrating Islam into daily life with sound Aqidah and the 40 Hadith.

- Integrates Islamic practice into daily life with a sound understanding of Aqidah
- Memorized ≥10 surahs with comprehension and completed Imam al-Nawawi's 40 Hadith
- Recognizes dawah, regular participation, and maintains an MCC personal report
- Knowledge of purification, halal/haram, and Islamic manners and modesty
- Completed a full seerah study, understands the Sunnah, and finished the Young Associate syllabus
- Able to explain the purpose of worship and articulate Islamic moral principles

Youth General Member
Grade 9 and above
Embracing the mission — teaching younger youth and active dawah.

- Embraces the mission of MCC and actively volunteers in its programs and dawah
- Consistent practice with sound Aqidah, manners, modesty, purification, and halal/haram
- Memorized ≥15 surahs and is comfortable teaching younger youth
- Full seerah study, Sunnah, ≥5 topic-based hadiths & Qur'anic verses (with Arabic) for outreach
- Can explain the purpose of worship and defend Islamic moral principles
- Completed the Youth General Member syllabus
- Maintains an MCC personal report and contributes through occasional donations

Youth Charter Member
Grade 9 and above
The highest tier — leadership, teaching, dawah, and chapter liaison.

- Commits to MCC's mission, volunteers regularly, and supports expanding its work across Canada
- Consistent practice, manners, modesty, purification, and halal/haram
- Sound Aqidah, memorized ≥20 surahs, and has taught at least one Qur'an/Dars class to juniors
- Full seerah study, Sunnah, ≥10 topic-based hadiths & verses, and led/taught a seerah/hadith session
- Explains the purpose of worship, defends moral principles, and has basic fiqh of salah, fasting, zakat
- Active dawah: recruits ≥1 General Member and 2 Associates; inviting a non-Muslim to Islam is encouraged
- Completed Islamic leadership training and the Charter syllabus; liaises with the local adult chapter
- Maintains an MCC personal report and contributes a minimal membership fee
